Sultan Abu Bakar Mosque is the earliest mosque in Johor Bahru. The Sultan Abu Bakar Mosque was built in 1892. The position of this mosque faces the Tebrau Strait, making it one of the buildings with a beautiful view in Johor Bahru.
The design style of the building in the colonial era mixed with the influence of local architecture is very evident in the design of the Sultan Abu Bakar Mosque building. Roof design that is characteristic of Moghul and traditional architecture by applying the concept of limas roof. The marble panels on the floor of the mosque were imported from Italy while the colored glass on the dome was imported from Venice.
